The MDG Achievement Fund supported 24 joint programmes in this area with an allocation of US$134.5 million. These efforts contributed to achieving MDG 4 (Reduce child mortality) and MDG 1 (Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger). Interventions ranged from providing low cost nutritional packages that can save lives and promote healthy development to engaging with pregnant and lactating mothers to ensure they are healthy and aware of key nutrition issues.
